Seeing Joan Jet, M.I.A. and Ludacris For Free? Virgin Mobile FreeFest 2010

Free fest line up

Fifth year of Virgin Festival, second year it's free. The official lineup and date for the Virgin Mobile 2010 FreeFest have been announced and it will take place at Meriwether Post Pavilion on September 25th. We have 65 days to plan for the show but you can be sure that we will be there covering the whole show and all the acts.

Tickets go on free sale at 10 am on July 24th. So get ready because these will go fast. Don't worry though, last year tickets were sold day before show for $5 and I'm sure they will do it again this year just in case you get shut out.

Also now you can donate the $5 which will go towards ending youth homelessness and you will receive a remixed mash-up of the festivals artists, which runs about 20 minutes.

Lineup:

M.I.A.

Pavement

Ludacris

Thievery Corporation

LCD Soundsystem

Joan Jett

Things To Look out for This Week

This week is going to be huge for Dad's Car Radio because we are going to be running around like crazy getting all new content for the site.

 1. WARPED TOUR ON TUESDAY

On Tuesday I (Chelsea) will be running around interviewing and taking pictures of all your favorite artists all day. This is all while I will be celebrating my 18th birthday. If you have any suggestions for general questions for a specific band that we will be interviewing please leave a comment or an @ reply at my twitter account or to the offical Dad's Car Radio account.

2. Motel 6 Rock Yourself To Sleep Tour

If I haven't died of exhaustion I will be going to the Rock Yourself To Sleep Tour the day after Warped Tour to see Every Avenue, Sing It Loud, The Secret Handshake, and There for Tomorrow. Expect pictures and maybe some surprise interviews.

3. Album Reviews.

Most likely tomorrow I will be posting a review of The Maine's new album Black & White. And on Tuesday Stereo Skyline's debut album Stuck on Repeat is dropping as well. That review can be expected in the second half of the week.

4. Live reviews.

With all these concerts there's bound to be some people who will impress, and some who may fall short. I'll be sure to let you all know all the details on what some of the bands on Warped Tour and Rock Yourself To Sleep Tour really sound like live.

It's going to be a very busy week for us, so make sure to check back every day blogs stuffed with all things music.

Chelsea’s Current Five Favorite Summer Songs

I'm currently tapping away on the family iPad on my way to a wedding and while I was trying to think of what I should post about I pulled out my iPod, then I realized how much I sound like all I ever do is plug apple products… Back on topic I realized it would be fun to write a post about five songs that I love listening to on sunny days like this.

1. Cobra Starship- Good girls Go Bad (Cash Cash Remix)

Although this song is a hit from last summer, the remix, which can be found on the deluxe version of their album Hot Mess, brings a new twist to the song. You can also expect a new post about the band Cash Cash in the near future.

2. Good Time-Carter Hulsey

From his first full length album this song from Carter is sure to get you in a good mood. It's happy without being overpowering because of it's country feel.

3. A Little More Us-Stereo Skyline

This song hasn't been released on iTunes or amazon yet but you can listen to it for free as many times as you want on the bands myspace. Www.myspace.com/stereoskyline their first full length album Tounge Tied drops on Tuesday so make sure to get that as well. WARNING: this song has a high risk to get caught in your head for long periods of time!

4. Streets of Gold-3OH!3

Off of their newest album the title track infuses an electronic feel with a tempo that resembles that of a roller coaster. I expect this to be the second single for the album, once heat dies down off of My First Kiss feat. Ke$ha.

5. Airplanes-B.o.B. Feat. Haley Williams

To be perfectly honest I avoided this song mostly because I was pretty much afraid of the buzz that surrounded it, and that if I didn't like it then it would be assumed something was wrong with me. I had only heard clips but never really listened so when I finally listened to the whole song beginning to end I was pleasantly surprised. I'm just a tiny bit addicted now and recommend the song, especially to those who love wishing.

So that concludes my current five summer songs. This post also serves as proof that you favorite song doesn't HAVE to be California Gurls. Cough.
