Another new picture from roadshow
Bamboozle Roadshow
The Bamboozle, which holds alternative music tours all over the country, is kicking off it's national tour tomorrow May 21st in Columbia, Maryland. The headliner is none other than Baltimore native band All Time Low, who will be on the entire tour. Also on the entire tour is popular band Boys Like Girls, whose album Love Drunk dropped last fall. A surprise band on the tour this year is a complete blast from the past for us 90's kids. Hanson, yes, that Hanson is also on the tour, taking back their title of cute brother boy band that The Jonas Brothers took over. I will be at the show tomorrow, doing some special interviews with a few of the bands, but I'm going to keep that a surprise for later.

A Second Interview with NeverShoutNever.
In four months a lot can change, especially for a teenage boy. However, one of the things that hasn't changed for Christofer Drew is that four months after his last interview with us he is still on the road on a headlining tour. This time Chris is headlining the AP tour, run my AP magazine and sponsored by Rockstar energy drink and Wonka candy just to name a few. In the 9:30 club backstage area I sat down with Chris and asked some questions that were different than ones asked in our last interview. In a more relaxed environment this time Chris is still strumming on his guitar during the interview, still full of energy every night to go on stage and perform for his fans, even when under the weather. Like a ball of energy Chris was able to get through all of our questions, along with some answers from additional members of the band. Unlike in December with the acoustic tour Chris' backup band, The Shout, is also along for the ride this spring. Other bands on the tour are The Summer Set, Every Avenue, Hey Monday, and The Cab. In the next few days I'll be uploading pictures taken of each set from that night along with reviews on the bands performances.

10 Reasons Why Dad’s Car Radio Loves GLEE
A Day in NYC
I went to see Billy Elliot on a FAA trip this past weekend and chronicled my journey.
A 2010 HFS-Tival?
An interesting item surfaced on Twitter the other day. CBS radio might be reviving the famed HFS-tival. The rumor started when Billy Idol posted tour dates on his web site the included a September appearance in Gaithersburg, Maryland at the HFS-tival.
There are several questions that spring to mind:
1 Gaithersburg??? Would that mean The Montgomery County fairgrounds? Really?
2. How can you have an HFS-tival without an HFS? Yes, I realize that there is something called HFS being carried on some CBS station's HD2 channel, but do more than 12 people listen to it?
3. Do you even know anybody with an HD radio?
4. Do you know that HD stands for Hybrid Digital and not High Definition?
5. Do they have no shame?
The HFS-Tival was started as a 4th of July Picnic at Lake Fairfax and grew into a huge moneymaker of a Festival. It got there via the passion and commitment of dozens of HFSters. The vibe was fantastic, the value was amazing – 20 bands for $20! It became a legend, a communal ritual, people bought tickets BEFORE the line up was announced!
But that is over and gone. Squashed, squeezed and squandered.
If this is for real, and they are going to promote an HFS-tival, they will no doubt do it via all the various DC and Baltimore stations CBS owns. Which will still not sell it out, because no matter what the line up is, no matter what the ticket prices are, there is no soul, no passion, no mission, no reason to care.
It's a bad idea and the public will not be fooled.
Alex Chilton
Alex Chilton died yesterday and took another piece of Rock and Roll with him. Lead singer of the Box Tops, he scored a huge hit at age 16 with “The Letter”. That song blasted out of the AM radios and jukeboxes of my youth and grabbed me by the ears. “Give me a ticket for an aeroplane, ain’t got time to take a fast train”. This guy was on a mission! His baby had written him a letter!
But the real brilliance came later in the music of Big Star. I’ll admit that, like most, I missed these albums for many years, but somewhere in the late 80’s I heard “Seotember Gurls” for the first time.
Wow. What a perfect record. And every single time I have heard it since I have felt the same way, sometimes being moved to tears by it’s beauty. Like today.
