How did you get into music?

I was 13 and I saw all my friends around me joining bands and playing music. So i asked for a guitar and learned & eventually joined a band a year later.

How long have you been playing your respected instrument?

I started playing guitar when I was 13, so its been 7 years now.

Who are your musical influences?

The Beatles

Congratulations on being featured as an unsigned artist of the month
by Alternative Press! How did that feel being recognized like that?
I screamed when I saw my first issue at a newspaper stand. I was ecstatic about it because its such a well known magazine and I've been reading that magazine for years.
Has anything changed since then?
Yes tons has changed since I've been in the magazine! I've got tons more fans & people telling me they saw me in the magazine and what not. And industry people take me more serious because of the feature. As a matter of fact, I will be recording with Blake Healy (Metro Station) in a week.
Who are your musical guilty pleasures?
Jonas Brothers, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber.
What do you imagine people doing when listening to your music?
dancing on their beds :)
You have to creature a super tour with you and three other bands, who
is coming with you?
I would take the Jonas Brothers, Usher, & Taylor Swift
What’s next for the you?
Well I will be recording a brand new song with Blake Healy on Dec. 2nd/3rd. I have a show in Hollywood, CA at the Roxy Theater on Jan. 7th with Assemble The Skyline. And I'll be promoting at random shows in California like always.

An Interview with Keeping Secrets

How and where did the band get its name?

haha well unfortunately this isn't a very fun story, basically we kicked around a bunch of similar ideas that soon came to be what it is now. It has served us well

How long has everyone been playing their respected instrument?

right around 11 years for us all

Who are your musical influences?

We all bring a range of musical influences from Brand New, Blink 182, As Cities Burn, to, August Burns Red, It Dies Today, Thrice and everything in between

Congratulations on being featured as an unsigned artist of the month
by Alternative Press! How did that feel being recognized like that?

Thank you so much! It was definitely surprise, and a great one at that. We are very blessed to have the kind of fans that go out of their way to make things like that happen

Has anything changed since then?

Well unfortunately our drummer left just weeks prior to the issue hitting stores, so as of now our main focus has been searching for the right drummer for the job as well as writing for a new record

Who are your musical guilty pleasures?

haha hmm well there could be some hip hop in there, lil Weezy, Nelly, and Eminem. Luke really likes the Pixies, and Jordin listens to alot of country music. Oh and ESPN radio, even though thats not music, I can't stop listening!

What do you imagine people doing when listening to your music?

Well alot of our songs are deeply rooted emotionally and I think alot of people can related to them easily. Our ultimate goal is to create music that helps people through dark times with a positive message

You have to creature a super tour with you and three other bands, who
is coming with you?

ooh that's a good one, if it's a tour to benefit our band and gain more fans it would probably have to be August Burns Red, A Day to Remember, and the Devil Wears Prada.
If its more for personal reasons I'd say Blink 182, Coheed and Cambria, Brand New and It Dies Today. I know that's four bands, so we will sit out and watch haha

What’s next for the band?

We are focused more than ever right now and have big plans for 2011. While in search for a new drummer we are writing for our new record out next year. Once we get a drummer we plan on
hitting the ground running searching for new support, touring and another release.

AMA Results Bring Only Surprises of Disappointment

Ama

Last nights American Music Awards were predictable to say the least. In fact, I could probably go up to nay Top 40 listener and have them predict who won, completely confident they'll guess correctly. With Justin Bieber sweeping the show, Taylor Swift winning female country, and Eminem winning rap, it makes me wonder why people even need to watch these awards. There were some highlight performances, and you can vote below for your favorite, courtesy of MTV, but all and all my experience watching the AMA's just makes me more excited for the Woodie Awards.

An Interview with Bedouin Soundclash

After just releasing their fourth studio album Light The Horizon we were able to have Eon Sinclair answer a few questions to get a better look at Bedouin Soundclash.

How would you best describe your sound?

Street Soul; reggae roots that grew into a tree that sprouted folk, rock, world, and electronic fruits.

What do you imagine your listeners doing while hearing your songs?

I imagine them listening with intent and coming away from the experience having felt something, something that leaves them wondering, something that feels like it's about them and is reflective or cathartic, or something that leaves them smiling.

Who are your musical influences?

Too many to list, but The Clash, The Wailers, Sam Cooke, Paul Simon, Sizzla, Damon Albarn, The Funk Brothers, etc, etc, etc.

What other hobbies do you have besides music?

I love football (soccer), I like to socialize with family and friends, video games (PS3),  watching sports, shopping for clothes.

What are your musical guilty pleasures?

Not so guilty about it but Hall and Oates.

When writing, what comes first, music or lyrics?

I don’t really write lyrics, so music.

Are there plans to make a music video for any of the songs you've recorded recently?

We just shot a video for a song called "Elongo" on our latest record "Light the Horizon" which should be out soon.

If you weren't in music what do you think you'd be doing?

I think I would be an elementary school teacher as that's what I went to school for.

Any plans for touring and supporting your music in the future?

We will continue to tour our record where and when it makes sense to do so, but we'll also be focused on making more and better music.
